The mat is for everyone.

High Ground believes everyone who wants to train should be able to train. Thanks to the generosity of donors who share that conviction, we're able to offer two scholarships — one for families who need financial support, and one for competitive athletes who want to take their game further.


Needs-based

Rise above Scholarship

For families who need financial support to get their athlete on the mat.

Eligibility:

  • Athlete must be between the ages of 4 and 18

  • Parent or guardian must commit to a minimum of 75% class attendance (3 classes per week)

Income Guidelines:

  • Full scholarship (100% tuition waiver) - household income under $57,420/year

  • Partial scholarship (50% tuition discount) - household income under $76,550/year

To Apply:

  • Complete the Needs-Based Scholarship application in full

  • Provide proof of income (pay stubs, W-2, tax return, or applicable assistance documentation)

  • Submit in person at High Ground or by email to blackbelt@highgroundjj.com


Performance

alpha Family Scholarship

For competitive team members whose tournament goals are bigger than their budget.

Eligibility:

  • Athlete must be a registered member of the High Ground Competition Team

  • Parent or guardian must commit to a minimum 75% attendance at practices and conditioning (3x/week)

  • Athlete must compete in a minimum of 4 tournaments per year

  • Parent or guardian must volunteer 4 hours per month at High Ground

To Apply:

  • Complete the Performance Scholarship application in full

  • Schedule and complete a 60-minute in-person interview with the competitive team coaches

Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis as applications are received. Application review takes less than 30 days. No guarantee of assistance is implied by submitting an application. If approved applications exceed available funds, scholarships will be awarded by lottery. High Ground Jiu Jitsu does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, or disability in its programs or activities.

Information submitted through the scholarship application process is used solely to determine eligibility. All applications are handled with full confidentiality by the High Ground Scholarship Committee. Personal financial information will not be shared with coaches or discussed outside of the committee.
