At High Ground, raising our children to be leaders is one of our top priorities. Our formal and structured youth and adult leadership programs are designed in a “train the trainer” format which puts your child or young adult in front of other children. Public speaking, confidence, management, organization, and relationship building are just a few of the skills we focus on developing.

Youth
Ages 8–15
Our Youth Leadership Program is designed to build character, confidence, and discipline in young athletes. Through structured training and mentorship, students learn not just jiu jitsu — but how to lead on and off the mat. As paid Youth Leaders, they arrive early, assist with instruction, and model the values of High Ground for younger students.
- Time Commitment - Youth Leaders arrive 30 minutes early to class and stay after to help clean
- Assist with Teaching - Youth Leaders will lead warmups and assist in teaching the moves
- Uniform Requirement - Youth Leaders must wear a High Ground gi when coaching
- Grade Requirement - Youth Leaders must maintain grades at a B average or higher
Leadership Program
Adult
Ages 15–19
The Adult Leadership Program goes beyond technique — it's a commitment to personal growth and community. Qualifying blue belts will be challenged to lead with integrity, serve others with compassion, and continue improving in every area of life. This is a 1 year intense adult leadership program that demands a high level of commitment, culminating with a thesis paper and a practical application seminar lead by the Adult Leader.
- Time Commitment - Adult Leaders will be required to dedicate about 10 hours a week to the program
- Lead Classes - Adult Leaders will be the lead coach at least once a week
- Huge Benefits - Adult Leaders will receive free weekly private lessons, a paid gym membership at Alpha Family Fitness, and unlimited competition fees paid for by the program
